A very interesting article that quite eloquently summarizes and chronicles the history of contemporary American urbanization. The article (which is a fair length) also summarizes some of the issues created by, and resolved by, (sub)urbanization, and the multidirectional flow of Americans over the last 2 centuries - first into, then out of, and more recently occasionally back into, city centers.
